About the Program

When ICC first introduced the INCOTERMS® standard commercial terms in 1936 it grounded a sensation in the international business world introducing a radically new concept to bring coherence to commercial and judicial systems that diverged widely from one country to another. Starting they were first commenced, the INCOTERMS® rules have been revised about once a decade to keep up with the rapid expansion of world trade. Cargo security and risk sharing are now at the forefront of the freight transportation agenda for many countries as well as the parties involved. Thus, exporters, importers, bankers and insurers, freight forwarders and carriers need to be aware of the new changes in INCOTERMS® 2020 which have critical implications to their business especially on (i) the carriage of goods between seller/buyer, (ii) acquisition of transit/cargo insurance, (iii) export and import clearance requirements, (iv) assumption of risks for loss and damage and (v) allocation of costs between seller & buyer.
