About the Program
The Carriage of Dangerous Goods by road has inherent risks and dangers and by attending recognized training, drivers can reduce the hazards to themselves and to other road users by following industry guidelines and health and safety legislation. The purpose of “Tank” module is to ensure that dangerous goods (including clinical and other dangerous waste) being carried by road can cross international borders freely, as long as goods, vehicles and drivers comply with its provisions. Transporting dangerous goods in the following vehicles will require the driver to hold a valid ADR Vocational Training Certificate: A road tanker with a capacity greater than 1000 liters A tank container with a capacity greater than 3000 liters A vehicle having a permissible maximum weight exceeding 3.5 tons Thus, this edition of the training is essential reading for all those involved in road tanker fleet operations, maintenance and repair workshops and those with responsibility for the training of road tanker technicians, but mainly for tank drivers. It has been also developed to provide companies that undertake the maintenance of petroleum road tankers with a syllabus for training technicians and to satisfy road tanker operators that those responsible for the maintenance of road tanker service equipment have an understanding of the safety implications of the equipment.
